The FLTA Orientation Program will be held on the beautiful park-like campus of Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing.
MSU
is a public land-grant university established in 1855. Our campus is
located in East Lansing, Michigan, a pleasant city in the Capital
District, east of our capital city of Lansing. Approximately 50,000
students attend MSU, and our strongest disciplines are education,
agriculture, natural sciences, and applied fields such as engineering.
MSU features a large Linguistics and Languages Department, with
offerings in over thirty different foreign languages. MSU’s mascot, the
Spartan, is a revered campus symbol of strength, hard work, and
endurance: three values which are well-held by our students and
community.
Michigan State University offers excellent facilities for study: fine, modern libraries with a rich array of valuable collections for research, teaching, and public service, computer labs with high-speed Internet and printing facilities, and free Internet access on personal computers across campus via MSUnet Wireless.
Art and culture are alive and all around MSU. The campus offers continual opportunities to enjoy the performing arts, to visit museums and galleries, and to experience horticultural gardens that have won the campus acclaim as one of the most beautiful in the nation.
The campus not only caters to the mind, but also to the stomach. Public eateries are located across campus and MSU also has its own Dairy Store, producing and selling cheeses and ice cream. The MSU Union serves as a student gathering place offering a wide variety of student activities and social events. Among others, it contains a computer lab, study space in several locations, bowling lanes, a billiards center, and several stores.
